Airport Transfer vs Taxi vs Uber: Which Should You Book?

May 15, 2026 · 6 min read

Airport transfers are boring — until yours doesn't show up and you're standing outside Charles de Gaulle at midnight.

Pre-booked private transfers (what Travel Network arranges) win when: you land late, you have kids or luggage, the airport is far from town, or ride-hail is regulated (Barcelona, Milan, Athens).

Uber/Bolt win when: you know the language, arrivals are quick, and you're happy with a shared queue.

Local taxis are fine in most European capitals and Japan; be cautious in cities where meters get 'creative' (Rome, Cairo, Marrakech).

Rule: for the first arrival in a new country, always pre-book a transfer. For return trips out, ride-hail is cheaper.
